Your research deserves a better home.

Write together. Cite effortlessly. Trace everything.

In Markdown or LaTeX, beside your sources, datasets, and figures. Topped off with an AI assistant you control. (rolling out now)

01

Cite as you write.

Keys complete from the project's Sources as you type, in LaTeX or Markdown.

02

The PDF, beside the source.

Recompile and the paper updates next to the text, with any error pointed at its line.

03

Figures that know their data.

Datasets keep every version. When the data changes, the figure drawn from it says so, and Regenerate redraws it.

Trace everything

Every claim, back to its evidence.

Link a sentence in the paper to the sources, data and figure behind it. History lays out the chain for each claim.

  1. Sourcegorman2014Gorman, Williams & Fraser
  2. Datasetpenguins.csvEvery version kept
  3. FigureBill measurementsDrawn from the data
  4. ClaimDiscussionThe sentence it supports

Every change saved, with who made it.

No Git required. Each editing session becomes a version, and History shows who changed what.

An assistant your team controls.

Ask it to tighten a paragraph or fix a sentence, with the key you choose. Owners switch the AI on or off for each project. (rolling out now)

How many people can work on a project?

As many as you invite: during early access there is no collaborator limit on any plan. When paid plans open, Free will allow up to 3 collaborators per project.

What counts as AI usage?

When paid plans open, bigger requests will use more: a quick fix very little, a full-paper review more. You'll see the cost before a big job runs.

What if I run out?

When paid plans open, you'll be able to buy a top-up on Max, or use your own key on Pro.

Does usage roll over?

When paid plans open, a plan's usage will reset each month, and a top-up will last 12 months.

Is my work used to train AI?

No. Once the assistant is on, owners can turn the AI off for any project.

FAQ

Questions.

How is Folie different from a word processor or a LaTeX editor?

They hold the text. Folie holds the whole paper: the manuscript beside its sources, datasets, and figures. Citations complete from your Sources as you type, each figure knows the data it was drawn from, and every editing session is saved as a version with who made it.

Do I need to know LaTeX?

No. Write in Markdown and it compiles to a clean paper. LaTeX is there when you want it, with the PDF beside the source.

Can my whole lab work on one paper?

Yes. Make an organization for your lab and invite everyone as an editor or a viewer. Every version records who saved it, and History shows who changed what. Editing is one person at a time for now.

Who can see my project?

Only the people you invite. A project is private until you share it, and each person's role decides what they can do: owners and admins manage it, editors write, viewers read.

Can I bring my draft and references?

Import a .docx, .md, or .tex file (a Google Doc downloads as .docx), or a whole LaTeX project as a .zip with its .bib files. Add sources by DOI or link, or import them from Zotero.

Does it work with R or Python?

Yes. With a project token, a script pushes a dataset (CSV) or a figure (SVG) straight into the project, and pushing the same dataset again adds a new version of it.

Can I take my work with me?

Always. Export the PDF, the LaTeX source, or a submission package as a .zip.

Whose model runs the assistant?

The assistant is rolling out now. It runs on the model you choose: add a key for Claude, GPT, or Gemini, or let Auto pick. Owners can turn the AI off for any project. Folie never trains on your drafts; the provider you choose handles your requests under its own terms.
